DESCRIPTION:Walk into Local History: Coffee Walk & Talk at the Hok-Si-La Campground\n\nMay 25 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm\n\nHok-Si-La Park\n\nBegin your Memorial Day celebration early with this new\, collaborative program between the Goodhue County Historical Society and Hok-Si-La Park & Campground.\n\nFirst\, learn about the history of the area\, including:\n\n\n	The Silvernale Phase: when Lake Pepin was a cultural center for different Native American groups hundreds of years prior to white settlement.\n	The Story of Rest Island: a 19th century spiritual retreat for "drunkards and inebriates\," established during the years leading up to Prohibition.\n\nNext\, explore the park as the group takes a scenic walk along Lake Pepin with guides from the Hok-Si-La Campground. The short walk includes a trip to a nearby eagles nest. Coffee and water will be provided\, and participants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park following the program.
